On April 24-27, 2018 two training events on grant applications for the EU’s CSO/LA and EIDHR programmes for civil society organisations (CSO) and local authorities (LA) from GEORGIA were held in Tbilisi.
These two-day events were organised upon the request of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia with the goal to support developing quality applications for the Call for Proposals aimed at strengthening civil society organisations and local authorities in the EU neighbouring countries under the European Union’s CSO/LA and European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Programmes. Over 40 representatives of Georgian CSOs and LAs participated in the training sessions.
The main subjects of the training were the Preparation of concept notes for grant applications for the CSO-LA instrument and Preparation of the project proposals for grant applications for the CSO-LA instrument which covered the following main topics: Problem analysis and intervention logic; Logical Framework Approach; Development of measurable indicators; Ensuring sustainability of the action; Preparation of a cost-effective action-based budget.
These 2-day training events were carried out in addition to four similar events organised and delivered by the project in February, in which over 110 representatives of CSOs and LAs participated.

On 23-24 April 2018, the EU-funded technical assistance Project Eastern Partnership Civil Society Facility – Regional Actions hold a series of webinars for the preparation of Concept Notes for the Call for Proposals “Support to Civil Society Organisations and Local authorities (CSO-LA) in the Republic of Moldova”.
This training was organised upon the request of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova and designed for the civil society organisations and local authorities from Moldova eligible for applying for the EU Call for Proposals “Support to Civil Society Organisations and Local authorities (CSO-LA) in the Republic of Moldova” with the objective to support the participation of civil society and local authorities in creating an enabling environment and increasing their capacity in ensuring the accountability and transparency in decision making.
The extended deadline for submission of Concept Notes is 18 May 2018. If you plan to apply for the Call for Proposals these webinars will help you: to get full and clear information on the requirements of the Call for Proposals; to learn how to fill in the Concept Notes as well as understand how they will be evaluated; to get understanding of basic tools to develop the Concept Notes.

[su_animate duration=”2″]BELARUS: Young people from YMCA Network gathered in Volozhyn to strengthen their competences in the area of democratic governance[/su_animate]
On 23-24 February 2018, YMCA Belarus ran a training on Democratic Governance, which was co-funded by the European Union through its Eastern Partnership Civil Society Facility. 20 young people from 7 local branches of YMCA Belarus (Vitebsk, Brest, Volozhyn, Minsk, Bobruisk, Lida and Molodechno) participated in the training.
The event was organised for strengthening of YMCA Belarus as a CSO promoting democratic values through strengthening its system of governance. The training aimed at raising level of competences of YMCA Belarus’s leaders in the area of democratic governance.
The participants have raised their level of knowledge in the following spheres: human rights based approach and values of YMCA Belarus, structure of a CSO, division of power, functions of different governing bodies, effective communication in a CSO, main documents of a CSO, risks of absence of democratic governance in a CSO.

[su_animate duration=”2″]GEORGIA: Civil society organisations and local authorities are enhancing their knowledge and skills in applying for grants under European Union Programmes[/su_animate]
During 13-23 February 2018, we conducted four 2-days trainings in grant application drafting for Georgian civil society organisations (CSO) and local authorities (LA) in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. The trainings were organised upon the request of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia to prepare Georgian counterparts for making quality applications during the Call for Proposals of projects aimed at strengthening civil society organisations and local authorities in the EU neighbouring countries, which will be announced under the European Union’s CSO/LA and European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Programmes.
During the training sessions over 100 representatives of Georgian CSOs and LAs learned how to prepare concept notes and proposals to apply for grants under the above mentioned thematic EU programmes. The participants got practical skills and knowledge on project preparation based on the logical framework approach: problem and stakeholder analysis, strategy and intervention logic, assumptions and preconditions, indicators and sources of verification, sustainability of the actions, budget, etc.

The EU-funded technical assistance Project Eastern Partnership Civil Society Facility invites civil society organisations (CSO) and local authorities (LA) from GEORGIA to express their interest in participation in a series of training events in relation to the forthcoming Call for Proposals to be launched under the European Union’s CSO/LA and European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Programmes with the objective to strengthen civil society organisations and local authorities in the EU neighbouring countries. The trainings are designed for the civil society organisations and local authorities from Georgia eligible for applying at least as co-applicants for the EU’s CSO/LA and EIDHR call for proposals for minimum budget action of 250,000 Euro.
The trainings will be organised in Georgia in February 2018 upon the request of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia.

[su_animate duration=”2″]ARMENIA: Training on EU Grants Procedures and Management in Yerevan, 15-18 January 2018[/su_animate]
On 15-18 January 2018, on the request of the Delegation of the European Union in Armenia, the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Facility organized a training “EU Grants Procedures and Management, including Financial and Budgetary Questions” for 30 representatives of recently launched EU-funded projects in Armenia.
The projects’ representatives were introduced to the EU policies on civil society and participated in an intensive training on specific issues related to the implementation of EU-funded projects, including: 1) Approaches and tools for project design; 2) Problems and causes for unsuccessful projects; 3) Financial and contractual issues, including rules and procedures of sub-granting; 4) Practical work on logical frameworks and achievement indicators; 5) Monitoring, evaluation and project reporting.
In addition, the projects’ partners got a chance to get individual coaching from the key trainer, Mrs. Tanja Hafner Ademi, on issues relevant for their specific projects.
