2023 Fellowships

In 2023, two calls for applications for the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Fellowship Programme were launched. We received over 400 applications from the six EaP countries and selected 35 new Fellows who joined our Fellowship network.  You can find out more about our new Fellows and their Fellowship projects below. 

The EU-funded EaP Civil Society Facility Project has administered the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Fellowship programme since 2017. To-date, with a new cohort of Fellows selected, the Fellowship alumni has a total of 181 Fellows from across the six countries of the EaP. Details about the Fellows 2017-2023 and their activities.

Learning for Liberation: Adult Education for Empowerment of Marginalized Communities

Fellowship Summary: The fellowship project will promote adult education approaches to capacity-building programmes for marginalized groups. The fellow will undertake analysis of NGO training programmes working with ethnic minorities, domestic violence survivors, LGBTI people, and people with disabilities, then design and delivery of ToT (with handbook) for the trainers from these NGOs on how to apply adult education approaches to their work.

Fellowship Summary: The aim of the fellowship is to make communication campaigns from content creators data-driven and tailored to the civic needs, values and interests of Gen Z in Georgia. The Fellow will implement activities to build a community around this objective.

The Factors Affecting NEET Youths’ Transition into Adulthood in Samtskhe-Javakheti Region

Fellowship Summary: The fellow will explore the factors affecting transition to adulthood for rural NEET (‘not in education or employment’) youth in the Samtskhe-Javakheti, with a focus on ethnic minorities and girls, in order to identify the underlying socio-economic, cultural, and educational barriers that prevent them from transitioning to adulthood successfully.

Fellowship Summary: Developing a common vision for the development of green areas in Kyiv’s residential district with the participation of civil society activists, authorities and students; and providing local activists with a tool to advocate for sustainable solutions for the development of the district.

Advocacy for ‘open spaces’ protection and development in Dnipro

Fellowship Summary: the Fellow will support citizens in Dnipro city of Ukraine to use an online, interactive platform to assist them with spatial analysis and data visualization to advocate the protection of urban green areas.

Fellowship Summary: Strengthening the Ukrainian Paralegal Movement: to enhance and strengthen the community of paralegals in Ukraine through mentorship from recognized countries where the paralegals community is officially recognized.

Fellowship Summary: The Fellow will use participatory research methods to explore the root causes of youth ‘brain drain’ and urban migration, and support debate among key stakeholders and policy-makers.

Empowering Kvemo Kartli’s Youth: A Research-Driven Civic Engagement Initiative (EKYCEI)

Fellowship Summary: The fellow will conduct a research in Kvemo Kartli to identify the root causes of lack of youth civic engagement and develop evidence-based policy recommendations for both local authorities and CSOs. The Fellow will collaborate with local authorities and CSOs to implement campaigns to raise awareness about civic engagement among young people in the target region.

Fellowship Summary: The Fellow will strengthen the Borjomi Youth Centre to develop leadership, project management, and advocacy skills, and empower young leaders as peer educators.

Fellowship Summary:The fellowship project aims to create “CityGuard”, a digital platform in partnership with Ostroh community in Ukraine. It enhances emergency preparedness,
communication, and safety in Ostroh by offering digital evacuation plans for population points, training, and real-time communication during emergencies.

OPPCORN Opportunities Streamlining Service for Activists in Ukraine

Fellowship Summary: The fellowship project aims to increase the capacity of CSOs to access funding opportunities through the use of the ‘Oppcorn’ bot. The fellowship will develop and roll-out the bot through Telegram and promote within small scale CSOs.

Saving Biodiversity Data in Conditions of War

Fellowship Summary: The aim of the project is to collect, digitalize and publish data on biodiversity (records of various representatives of fauna and flora) from scientists and environmentalists in any way affected by the war in order to save the data and make it available for global scientific community.

Evaluating Local Government’s Contribution to Sustainable Development: Policy Assessment, Performance Analysis and Intervention Recommendations

Fellowship Summary: Assessing Yerevan’s sustainable development policies, measure impact on greening the city, air quality & waste management through analysis of the effectiveness of city projects in reaching SDG3. The Fellow will identify policy gaps, recommend interventions based on best practices, promote collaboration & accountability.

Gender Transformative Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Policies in Georgia

Fellowship Summary: The aim of the project is to strengthen Georgia’s capacity to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change by integrating gender-responsive approaches into climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction strategies, ensuring that they address the specific needs and vulnerabilities of women and other marginalized groups.

Fellowship Summary: The Fellow will develop methods and mechanisms for the organisation ’10:11′ in order to promote and support mentoring within the civic sector, with specific emphasis on Ukrainian youth.

Mind the Gap: Transparency & Accountability Learning Ride for Inclusive CSOs

Fellowship Summary: The fellowship seeks to address the critical issue of inadequate accountability in Ukraine’s CSOs concerning funds allocated for disability-related initiatives. The aim is to rectify this by leveraging the experiences of French and Latvian CSOs to establish robust accountability mechanisms. Selected CSOs will be supported to pilot the mechanisms.
