2021 Fellowship: FAQs Published

15/12/2021

We publish the answers to the most frequent questions received from the potential applicants of the 2021 EaP Civil Society Fellowship Call for Applications. Please see the questions and answers below or download the pdf-file with FAQs.

Questions on eligibility issues

Question 1: Is there an age limitation for the EaP Civil Society Fellowship programme?

Answer: In this phase we don’t have age restrictions. One needs to be at least 18 years’ old or older to apply for the Fellowship.

Question 2: What is the overall score of IELTS acceptable for this programme?

Answer: The Fellowship programme requires applicants to have a minimum B1 level of English, as defined according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This is approximately level 5.0 on IELTS.

Question 3: Is a certificate of English language proficiency required to participate in the Programme?

Answer: As stated in the Guidelines for the Fellowship you should have a good working level of English, as well as have appropriate language skills for the chosen location of the proposed action. Proof of the level of English may include one or more of the following:

  • certification from an internationally recognized English language testing organization (eg. IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson, Trinity College);
  • proof that you have studied at degree level using English as the language of tuition;
  • personal recommendation letter, with reference contact details, from an employer, university, or international organization.

Question 4: Which countries are targeted for the 2021/2022 Fellowship Programme?

Answer: The Civil Society Fellowship programme is open to citizens of all 6 Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Question 5: Can I apply for both Fellowships (Community Engagement and Civic Digital)?

Answer: No. You can only make one application to the Fellowship programme, so you need to choose either Community Engagement or Civic Digital.  If you need any further guidance on which one is suitable for you, please email your questions to [email protected]

Question 6: My association is nominating me for the Fellowship.  I am the Director of the association.  Is it OK for my nomination letter to be signed by me?

Answer: No.  Self-nominations will not be accepted.  The nomination letter for applications to the Community Engagement Fellowship can be signed by a Board member of your association, or another senior manager at the organization, or you can ask for a nomination letter from a partner organization.

Question 7: Can I submit my Fellowship Concept Note through other channels other than my submission through the EaP CSF project web site?

Answer: Your Fellowship Concept Note should be completed and submitted by using the online format, however, if you think using the online form would put you at risk, please contact us at [email protected]

Question 8: Is it possible to apply for a Fellowship as an organization?

Answer: No.  The Civil Society Fellowships are for individuals not organizations, however you may include an organization as your nominee and during the Fellowship may be assisted by a partner organization.

Questions on the application process

Question 9: Can you send me a Concept Note form for review before applying?

Question 10: Can I fill an offline form to apply for the fellowship?

Answer: Before filling an online submission of a Concept Note, we advise reading the Guidelines which explain what information is required. We strongly recommend reading all materials under the How to Apply for the Fellowship Programme section. There are no ‘off-line’ application forms.

Question 11:Can I log in without registering my data on the website?

Answer: Information about the Fellowships opportunities and how to apply is available across our social media, but to make the first stage of the application you must log in at https://eapcivilsociety.eu/fellowship2021.  You may create your own username and password or use your Facebook or Google accounts.

Question 12: While registering on the website, what should be my username – my name or my nickname?

Answer: Please register with your name and surname (no nicknames).

Question 13: How long should my response be?

Answer: Different sections have different character limits (these vary between 250 – 750 characters).  Please follow the advised limits carefully.

Question 14: If not selected, can I delete registration form from the online platform?

Answer: Once the Concept Note is completed and submitted, it cannot be deleted.  However, you will be able to make a new application at the next Call in 2022 if your application for the 2021 Call is not successful.

Question 15: What are the priority themes for the 2021 Fellowship Call?

Answer: For this Call, the priority themes are those for the Eastern Partnership. Details of these are explained in the Fact Sheet.  Priority will also be given to Fellowships which are in line with 2022 European Year of Youth.  Please see the Guidelines for more details.

Question 16: I filled out an online application form, but the platform did not require any specific documents, such as CV, is there any specific list of documents I have to add? I do not want to miss even small details.

Answer: You do not need to send any additional documents at this stage. After submission of your Fellowship Concept Note, you will receive the confirmation email. Applicants with Concept Notes which meet the required evaluation criteria will be invited to make a Full Application later. Please read the Guidelines to familiarize yourself with the applications stages.
