Most civil society organisations strive to have a positive and concrete impact on the lives of others. Stories of civil society work are narratives that turn facts and statistics into a compelling message about this impact, but good storytelling is a craft that needs training and practice. This is precisely why the EU-funded Project Eastern Partnership Civil Society Facility – Regional Actions is planning to launch an e-course on Storytelling for Civil Society Organisations that aims to help CSOs understand the power of stories as communications tool, as well as learn how to create and shape their own stories successfully and broadcast them more convincingly and widely.
To make the e-course more relevant for civil society in the Eastern Partnership region and more engaging, the Project is looking for good practices from the six EaP countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) of using storytelling to successfully promote civil society work. If you think you have successful experience in using storytelling in your work, please share with us your good practices for integration into the course currently being developed.
Not only will other CSOs be able to learn from your experience, but, should your example be amongst the best, you will also have opportunities for further development in return. Those having submitted the best examples will be given preference for participation in the e-courses and face to face trainings developed by the Project. Additionally, selected contributors may be sponsored for participation in CampCamp (https://www.campcamp2018.com/) or Tbilisi Datafest (https://datafest.ge/). Please make sure you apply to participate in these events according to the rules of the organisers.
If you are interested to participate, please send us a brief description of how you or your organisation used storytelling with the links to the story (video, animation, blogs etc.) at [email protected] before 17th September 2018. As a minimum, please include the following in your submission: your name and role, name of the organisation, objective of the story, impact, link to the story (if currently not available online, please use wetransfer or similar for sending any relevant materials).
Background information:
The Eastern Partnership Civil Society Facility – Regional Actions is an EU-funded Project working with the six EaP countries to promote the role of civil society actors in reforms taking place in their countries. The Project covers several components, including e-learning, development of digital solutions to improve the public sector’s transparency and accountability, and strengthening cooperation and networking among civil societies throughout the region.
