We are excited to invite civil society activists, designers and IT specialists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine to apply for the first CitizenLab Hackathon which will be held in Ukraine by the Prague Civil Society Centre with the financial support of the European Union through its Eastern Partnership Civil Society Facility! Offer an idea of a realistic innovation project aimed at solving any social problem in your community through the use of new technologies. You can choose any topic but we expect the projects will be related to data collection, processing, presentation or delivery, use of multimedia formats or better interaction between citizens, governments and communities. Deadline for applications: October 25, 2017.
The three-day CitizenLab Hackathon will be held in Kyiv on 25-27 November 2017. The Hackathon is aimed at empowering digital participation of civil society from the EaP countries and the Central Asia, improving transparency of public institutions and enabling broader citizen involvement in decision making processes. The Hackathon will also contribute to sharing good local e-Democracy practices between civil society activists, will help building professional relations between civil society activists and IT experts, and will promote and strengthen cross-border cooperation.
Eleven multidisciplinary teams of society activists, designers and IT professionals from the EaP countries, the Central Asia and the EU will work on data and technological innovative solutions to solve the most pressing issues facing the communities in the EaP countries. Each team will develop a working prototype of an application or a platform to solve a problem offered by civil society activists selected through the Call for Applications. The best projects selected by the Jury will be invited to apply for mini grants to kick-start their initiatives.
To apply for the Call please fill in the registration form before October 25, 2017. The Organiser will have skype interviews with selected candidates to identify 11 participants from civil society organisations or groups whose ideas will be developed during the Hackathon in Kyiv, as well as 22 IT specialists and designers to help them.
